Space 1999 deviendra Space 2099!!!!!

Bonne nouvelle pour ceux qui aiment Cosmos 1999: On va refaire la série originale avec de nouveaux effets spéciaux (un peu comme les "Re-Mastered Star Trek origineaux mais en mieux), amélioration des scénarios et corrections des erreurs techniques et de continuités pour rendre la série au goût du jour.

Un example anodin : La Docteur qui fait un rapport à la dactylo: la dactylo a été remplacé par un ordinateur de style "laptop" avec du CGI!

Ouache! Ca sent le JJ Edselprise... ils ont redessiné les Eagles!

Voici ce que j'ai écrit sur leur blog:
"Please do not touch the eagles! As a very dedicated fan of the original, you would lose me right away if you changed them like those posters... UGH!

Everyone will remember the J.J. EdselPrize... What a disaster. 90% of the people I talk to about it agree it is U.G.L.Y. for lack of another or better word... They changed her TOO much. And ruined it for most fans. You dont change a main character that drastically without alienating the fans...

The Mark 2 Vipers in the new Galactica is a somewhat good example of how it should be done... They tweaked the design, updated it and reduced it's size but stayed very similar to the original in major configuration. It was a definite improvement on the original. But the Eagle is perfect as is...

Dont mess with an original just add a new one like the Viper Mark 7!!! Don't fix it if it aint broken, don't reinvent the wheel... Everyone I know agrees that the Eagle is a Classic, right down to some NASA and aeronautical engineers I have the opportunity to talk to about this. More than a ICON. Just by the reactions on this board...

Tweak them yes, but as little as possible. Ok round-of a corner here, better detailing there...
BUT don't forget, they are main characters by themselves. They define the look, feel of the show as much as the moonbase itself. No matter what storyline or whatever, they will remain the most used/seen piece of hardware on the show. They must fullfill several key roles, such as transport, explorer, prospector, airborn early warning, cargo, rescue, defense, electronic warfare, etc... So will be main characters in any of the shows just as Eagle 1 in the original series.

The only thing I agree to really change are those windows, not the shape, just cover then with transparencies (fully, not partially like on the posters) and re-work the interior to be more "user (pilot) friendly" and logical. Top and bottom view ports, panoramic view so easily piloted, maybe with an electronic aid in the form of thermal/visual cameras etc...like the helmet in an F-35, a 360 degree vision visor! Eagles to me are the equivalent of big Chinook Helicopters for space. Use that as a basis in reality when you think of an Eagle's capabilities.

The "evolving" of the Eagle may be a good thing during the new series, may even be used for a few storylines... The "modular" design is perfect for this and was added to in the original series. But I suggest to start with something as close to the original as possible and then evolve it from there.

The Hawks could be used as rapid base defense lauching from "launch tubes/catapults" (a la Galactica) from deep underground, for intercepts of asteroids or alien craft, a rapid response force, a 5 minute alert/ "Quick Reaction Alert"(QRA) like we see in todays military. Again, changing them as little as possible.

The rest is up for grabs, but again I agree with everyone, you need 3 main characters for it to be SPACE 2099: The Eagles, Moonbase Alpha and the Moon.

The rest can be changed/ajusted/tweaked while keeping the premise of the legacy show: The moon being ripped out of the earth orbit. The rest will follow!"

En espérant qu'ils vont nous écouter puisque 9 post sur 10 qui parle du Eagle sont d'accord de ne pas le changer...

Ca n'aura pas le choix de ressembler un peu au nouveau BSG, l'interaction des personnages ne pourra pas rester comme en 1975!
Le fond de la série sera comment des humains reagissent à etre isolé de la Terre, seuls dans l'espace. Ca peu etre écrit en soap opera, , en reactions macho, ou j'espere en rapport avec des problèmes actuels.
-Écologie, controle des naissances, groupes au pouvoir, % des ressources alloué pour la recherche vs le comfort...
Y'a du matériel la-dedans pour une couple de saisons! Et vu le "setting" de l'histoire, on a aucune idée comment ca peu finir. Ca c'est bien.

Y vont pas leur faire voyager un bout dans l'espace pour revenir se ré-accrocher en orbite autour de la terre 3 ans plus tard? LA ils me perdent.

On veut des bons effets spéciaux, on veut PLUS des histoires qui vont nous accrocher.
Je croise les doigts.
